LaunchNext-Generation iNEX Intelligent On-line Data Service in April 2003
January 28, 2002
Video Research Ltd. (VR), Japan's leading media and marketing research company, announced today that it will launch a web-based iNEX on-line marketing data service in March 2003.
The iNEX service was developed [to provide in-depth ratings
and advertising data and analysis on-line] in April 1997, when Video Research
launched its first People Meter TV audience measurement service in the Kanto
area. It has some 180 subscribers at present. While the existing service
is operated through a client-server system, the next-generation iNEX will
provide a centrally controlled data service from the iNEX Center, where
the database and servers are housed, enabling users to access the iNEX over
the Internet.
This new system has been developed to reflect the users' increasingly
sophisticated network environment. It will also allow the service to accommodate
changes in the media environment more swiftly.
Initially, the new web-based iNEX will offer the same service
menu as the existing service. Video Research is also considering development
of new service items in response to uses' various requests.
A test run of the new system is expected to start in October
2002.
Main features:
- Access from a PC using a web browser (Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher)
- No need to install the iNEX application on the PC (obviating the need for application-specific disk space and the need to upgrade the application)
- No need to install servers and routers on user sites
- A new "My Menu" function to allow users to customize the service
