Radio Rating Research in Kansai and Chukyo area of December, 2005

Video Research Ltd. has been conducting Radio Research in Tokyo Metropolis, Kansai and Chukyo area. At this time, we are delighted to announce the release of the research result in Kansai and Chukyo area of December, 2005.

*Radio Research of Kansai area will be conducted 4 times a year from April, 2006.
(April, June, October and December : 1 week survey in each month)

Survey method: Diary Survey, direct-visit & self-completion
Questionnaire: Portable questionnaire, closed-end
Survey area: - Kansai area (45 cities & 5 towns of Osaka , Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures)
- Chukyo area (43 cities, 34 towns and 2 villages in Aichi, Gifu and Mie prefectures)
Respondents: M&F 12-69 yrs. old ( 3,000 samples )
Response rate: Kansai area : 80.6 % ( 2,418s )
Chukyo area : 77.6 % ( 2,328s )
Sampling method: Random 2-stage sampling
Survey period:

2 weeks, December 5 (Mon) – December 18 (Sun), 2005

Number of survey waves: Twice a year, 4 weeks in a year (June and December: 2 weeks' survey in each month)

How frequently persons tune in to radio? Where do they tune in to the radio?

The ratio of persons who listened to the radio in one week reaches 70% among Men & Women 12 – 69 years old.
Also, the average listening duration (cumulated one week) is 15.1 hrs., i.e., persons listen to the radio approximately 2 hrs. a day.

Radio is a medium with a character that is often listened out-of-home and that ratio reaches more than 50%. This once again certifies the fact that Radio is a medium that is tuned in to both inside home and out-of-home.

The ratio of persons who listened to the radio in one week reaches more than 70% among Men & Women 12 – 69 years old.
Also, the average listening duration (cumulated one week) is 13.7 hrs., i.e., persons listen to the radio approximately 2 hrs. a day.

Radio is a medium with a character that is often listened out-of-home. Especially in the cars that ratio is very high in Chukyo area and reaches nearly 50%. This once again certifies the fact that Radio is a medium that is tuned in to both inside home and out-of-home.
